Visionary entrepreneur, CEO and Co-Founder of The Madera Group, Tosh Berman, sets the new standard in lifestyle hospitality and sustainable dining. Leading one of the fastest growing hospitality groups, Berman plays an integral role in the company’s overall creative vision, design and culinary direction. Prior to forming The Madera Group, Berman owned and operated some of the most lucrative and successful hospitality venues across the U.S. and beyond, including acclaimed nightlife venues and former celebrity hotspots AV Nightclub in Hollywood and Cake Nightclub in Scottsdale, AZ and San Diego, CA.

Raised in Santa Barbara, CA., Berman grew up watching and learning from his father, a luxury home designer & real estate developer. It was while working alongside him, Berman developed an understanding for building and special design. When it came to hospitality, Berman’s first foray began during his second year of high school, where he worked at a restaurant as a dishwasher. He quickly moved up the ranks from there to busser, bar back, waiter, bartender, bar manager to general manager, where he gained invaluable knowledge and experience in restaurant operations. At the age of 22, Berman decided to open three of his own hospitality and nightlife venues in Colorado. After a successful four year run, Berman sold his first hospitality company and moved to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to work for his family’s hotel development company. It was during his time there, that he discovered the true essence of Mexican cuisine and the use of the country’s fresh produce,  which would later set the foundation for his culinary approach. 

In 2014, Berman partnered with Amrou Manaseer to form The Madera Group, a collection of leading lifestyle restaurants dedicated to Modern Mexican cuisine and sustainable dining. In 2015, Toca Madera launched in West Hollywood. The restaurant, which quickly earned acclaim, became one of “The 100 Best Restaurants in America” by Forbes/OpenTable. In 2016, Tocaya Organica launched as a fresh-casual spin-off of the popular restaurant. Set out on a mission for better eating, Berman took on a reversed take of the traditional menu with a unique vegan-first approach, while still offering non-vegan options. 

Under Berman’s leadership, The Madera Group continues to thrive on a culture of innovation while expanding as the fastest growing fresh-casual concept in the industry. Berman credits his long-term success to old-fashioned hard work and his philosophy that, "being successful in business is not identifying what you excel at but rather recognizing your weaknesses and building a team that not just complement your bench but also can fill in the gaps to make your leadership complete.”

Currently, The Madera Group boasts an impressive portfolio of restaurants both nationally and globally, including Toca Madera in West Hollywood with a location coming to Scottsdale, AZ and its first international outpost in Dubai by 2018. Tocaya Organica currently includes locations in both Southern California & South Florida with an additional 40 venues opening over the The Madera Group’s expansion throughout the U.S. and abroad.
