Tap House Grill
Scott Ward has over 38 years of successful restaurant management experience in growing businesses and lowering costs through proven systems, procedures and detailed follow up. He has a passionate ability to direct people to achieve tasks deemed insurmountable. From 1998 to 2010, Scott acted as the Chief Operating Officer for Bar Louie and Restaurants-America, a multi-concept restaurant management company with over 65 units throughout the United States and 2010 sales of over $123MM. He created and conceptualized numerous concepts and led Restaurants-America’s strategic growth from 7 units in 1999 to 67 unit spread over 6 concepts and 15 states in 2010. Instrumental in the franchising for Bar Louie.

Scott Ward and Mark Zych are owners of the Tap House Grill, a professionally operated neighborhood restaurant and bar with an addictive beer infused menu, served by knowledgeable, friendly people in a warm and energetic atmosphere.

The first Tap House Grill opened in St. Charles, IL on November 11, 2006. It currently operates eight restaurants in Illinois. The Plainfield location was opened in March 2011, Lemont opened in December 2012, Des Plaines in November 2013, and the “Clubhouse” (corporate office) opened in Palatine in July 2014 and is the largest location at 8,000 square feet, with seating of 300.

The franchising process began in October 2014 when they engaged with the IFranchise Group and set up their system. Scott and Mark sold the Plainfield location to a long term General Manager and franchised the location in December 2015. In November 2016, they sold the Lemont location and franchised it. This gave them two locations to seed their franchising efforts and help them get the program off the ground.

Scott and Mark opened the Hanover Park franchised location in August of 2017 and will open another franchise location in Wheeling Illinois in January 2018, with plans for two additional franchised units in 2018.

As part of their strategic plan, they added a brewery to their portfolio – Half Day Brewing Company – in Lincolnshire, Illinois, which opened in January 2016. They are currently distributing four different SKU’s in the suburban Chicago marketplace.

Tap House Grill is proud  of their charity work. They sponsor numerous 5K charitable runs and also do a monthly dinner for the local homeless shelter in Palatine. Each unit will do a charitable event every 6 weeks, and they also do many “give backs” for the local schools.
